Ernst and Young spring lectures to feature 3 talks on women in workplace

SUNY Oswego’s Ernst and Young Lecture Series on Gender Equity in the Workplace will kick off for spring 2014 on Feb. 20 with an explorative lecture about the education of women in India today. Community Development Director Mary Vanouse and Mayor Tom Gillen remind everyone that Warm Up Oswego starts this weekend.Event officials have been working non-stop to make sure the ninth annual Warm Up Oswego Festival is a success for the community. The festival will kick off Friday, at 4 p.m. at Alex’s on the Water on the Riverwalk East – Alex’s will open its doors with a ribbon cutting and a bonfire in the firepit.

‘A huge step forward for public health’

In recent news, CVS/Caremark has announced their plans to end all tobacco sales by October 1 of this year. This is a huge step forward for public health. It has been a conflict of interest for pharmacies, providers of health care, to also profit from the sale of harmful products such as tobacco, known to cause cancer, heart and pulmonary diseases.
