Community Gardens a Success

The Oswego Community now has two fully functioning community gardens. In 2012, the idea to create a community garden in Oswego was introduced. Since then, the garden was developed on East Schuyler Street, including 60 occupied private plots as well as eight community plots. The East Side Gardens were successful enough to inspire two SUNY Oswego student to spearhead a movement for a West Side Gardens to be made.

Salmon River Festival Celebrates the Local Color of the Salmon Season

Smoked salmon, barbecued chicken, live music and a professional fish-cleaning competition were among the many colorful activities that highlighted the Fucillo Dodge Salmon River Expo and Salmon River Festival held Oct. 11 and 12 in Pulaski. Thousands of anglers and their families visited the village over Columbus Day weekend to fish and watch the action on the Salmon River, and local organizations and businesses had plenty of activities and food for all to enjoy.

Husband-Wife Accused of Stealing From 84-Year-Old Woman

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today (Oct. 28) announced felony charges against an Oswego County husband and wife accused of abusing power of attorney to steal from an 84-year-old woman in their care. David Tetro Jr. and Morgan Tetro, both of Minetto, allegedly stole more than $200,000 of the victim’s money for their personal use, including more than $100,000 in gambling debts, purchases at Victoria’s Secret and assorted transactions on iTunes, Ebay and Facebook.

Auler to play works of Bach, Gershwin, colleague in Nov. 9 recital

Accomplished concert pianist Robert Auler of SUNY Oswego’s music department will present “Reinventions,” a Focus on Faculty Series recital at 3 p.m. Nov. 9, in Sheldon Hall ballroom. For each piece, Auler either will play a different version from the original or comment in new ways on existing source material or inspiration.
