The afternoon demonstration involving more than a hundred members of the college community, including students, faculty and staff, took place in conjunction with similar expressions across the country following decisions not to indict police officers in the deaths of black men in New York, Missouri and elsewhere.
Representatives from National Grid meet with city officials and a handful of residents Monday night in City Hall. The meeting was facilitated by the city in the wake of some residents’ concerns over what they say was unannounced tree trimming by National Grid.
All Oswego County offices, solid waste transfer stations, the Bristol Hill Landfill and the Materials Recovery Facility will be closed on Dec. 25 for Christmas Day and Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. The Energy Recovery Facility will remain open both days to serve solid waste haulers.

Michael E. Novak, 78, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday December 7, 2014.
More than 20 local bands and musicians will perform on December 17 from 6-11 p.m. at The American Foundry, 246 W. Seneca St., for an all-star evening of live music to benefit the toy drive for Toys for Tots of Oswego County. Entry to the event is free, with each donated new toy. Today (Dec. 8), Richard M. Switts, 40, of Mexico, was sentenced by the Hon. Donald E. Todd, Oswego County Court, to 10.5 years in state prison and 10 years post-release supervision based upon his conviction for multiple sexual offenses. On October 23, a jury convicted Switts of five counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree (Class D Felony), two counts of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), and three counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree (Class B Misdemeanor).

Kevin B. Figaro, 21, of Onondaga Hall on campus and the Grand Concourse in the Bronx is accused of stealing a credit card from another resident of Onondaga Hall and using it to order food.
