OMS faculty and staff gathered RAK cards as part of Random Acts of Kindness Week and in partnership with SUNY Oswego, Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the Oswego City School District.
SUNY Oswego students participating in university’s Adopt-A-Grandparent program recently visited residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center. Students visited with residents and engaged them in a lively game of bingo. SUNY Oswego’s Adopt-A-Grandparent program connects students with senior adults in the community.
Plans are under way for one of the area’s premier fundraising events, the Oswego Christian Community School’s eighth annual auction. Scheduled for April 25, the auction will be held from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge #271, corner of West Fifth and Bridge streets.
The ninth annual Shave for a Cure will be held Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation works to raise awareness and funding to support childhood cancer research and treatments.
SUNY Oswego’s Division of Extended Learning will host a three and a half hour workshop for people interested in preparing for New York state’s notary public test. SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center offers the session several times each year; spring dates are April 29, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and June 16, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the center in the Oswego County Industrial Park adjacent to State Route 481 in Phoenix.
To my way of thinking the best beach in the world is in front of Amazing Ngapali Resort. When people ask us what our favorite place is we usually reply, “Where we are now.” However, there is only one place we have returned to eight years in a row even though it is a half a world away. For every five nights we stay we get extra benefits that include a free massage and a dinner; but, it is more than that. The staff is outstanding; the beach is wide and long with soft sand; the water is calm and warm, and it is very safe.
At approximately 7:50 a.m. today (April 10), Oswego City Police executed a search warrant at 235 E. Eighth St. in the city of Oswego. As a result of the investigation, Oswego Police arrested and charged 54-year-old James A. Jackson of 235 E. Eighth St., with three counts of “Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child” (class E felony) and three counts of “Possessing an Obscene Performance by a Child” (class E felony).
John Richard “Dick” Workman, 93, a resident of Oswego, passed away Thursday April 9, 2015.
The Fulton Lions Club has already sold more than 700 tickets for its annual “Lion’s Loot” drawing, leaving fewer than 300 left. The chance of winning up to $10,000 is quickly coming to an end, said Ron Browning, co-chair. The event drawings are scheduled for 1 p.m., April 19.
She has that quirky personable spunkiness that seems to be common with Torties. She does the head bonk thing, loves tummy/chest rubs, purrs up a storm, and will “chat” with you, especially when she’s looking for attention. If you say “Meow” to her, she will answer you.
