George F. Elkin, 95, a former resident of 68 Bronson St., passed away Tuesday June 30, 2015, at the Pontiac Care Center in Oswego.
CNY Arts Center is excited to announce the next Dessert Theatre event will host master storyteller Matthew Wood and singer-songwriter Gina Holsopple onstage July 18 at 8 p.m. Dessert Theatre Series offers an evening of special desserts and entertainment for one admission price at CNY Arts Center, River Glen Drive on the Cayuga Community College Campus.
Mexico Academy and Central Schools has started a Summer Food Service Program that will include a free lunch at the Mexico High School cafeteria for children up to 18 years of age until August 21. The meal must be consumed on site and will also be available to children with special needs up to 21 years of age.
Friends of Fort Ontario will host a free sunset yoga class on the windswept ramparts of the historic stone Fort Ontario fortification at 8 p.m. July 15. Yoga instructor Carissa Gaylord will lead the class, which will be taught at a beginner level with intermediate variations available to those with more experience.
Ahoy Maties! The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego is swabbing the decks for a hearty bit of pirate carousing. Brush off your eye patch, grab your parrot, tickets are now available for Kids’ Pirate Day set for July 16 from 1-3 p.m. or July 22 from 10 a.m. – noon.
The Oswego Health Board of Directors announced today (June 30) that Ann C. Gilpin has chosen to pursue an early retirement as president and CEO, effective immediately. Gilpin made this decision, in consultation with the board, so that she may pursue personal and family matters. Operations at all Oswego Health locations will continue to be overseen by the current executive leadership.
A volunteer organization calling itself Fulton FYI has just been formed and is announcing its first event. The community-based group focuses on promoting and connecting people in Fulton with ideas, activities, and events that contribute to improving the quality of life in their community. FYI’s first event will be held on July 9 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall on South First Street.
