V. Brien “Pete” Mathews, 93, resident of Hannibal, passed away Friday February 27, 2015, at Oswego Hospital after a short illness.
Drug Task Force Announces Meth Lab Arrests
On Thursday (June 11), at approximately 5:20 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force and Oswego City Police Department acted on information regarding a possible methamphetamine lab at 196 E. Second St., Oswego. Investigators spoke with occupants of the residence and received consent to search. Materials and equipment utilized to manufacture methamphetamine were observed within the home as well as a garage on the property, according to police.

Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum Holds Open House June 20 and 21
President Franklin D. Roosevelt allowed 982 refugees who survived Nazi reign into the country as his “guests” with the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter becoming their home from August 1944 to February 1946. The museum tells the story of their voyage to America, their arrival in Oswego, their interaction with the city residents and the life-long friendships developed during their stay.
OCO Summer Food Service Program Providing Free Meals for Oswego County Children
Bridget Dolbear, program services coordinator for Oswego County Opportunities, has announced that OCO is participating in the Summer Food Service Program again this year. Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like OCO to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer.

United Way Funding Building a Healthier Oswego County

United Way of Greater Oswego County helps to fund 16 human services programs that focus specifically on improving the health and well-being of Oswego County residents.
