The Oswego County Legislature recently proclaimed July 26 as Americans with Disabilities Awareness Day to promote education about advocacy, resources and services available to county residents. The Legislature’s Human Services Committee presented the certificate to members of Oswego ARISE.
Richard Mosher has announced his cast for the upcoming Oswego Players’ production of “The Last Five Years.” The two-person cast is comprised of Molly Brown and Michael LaBarbera.
Joseph Boots, of Hannibal, was the owner of the winning duck in Hannibal Dollars for Scholars annual “Ducks Over the Dam” race. A total of fifty-three additional prizes, donated by local businesses, were awarded to race participants. Hannibal Dollars for Scholars provides scholarships to graduates of Hannibal High School each year.
Something interesting. The ASPCA just announced a new collaboration with the New York City Police Foundation’s Crime Stoppers program. As a result of this initiative, people in New York City can now easily provide anonymous tips about suspected animal cruelty crimes in the city’s five boroughs. Crime Stoppers even offers rewards of up to $2,500 for tips leading to an arrest and indictment.
The Oswego County 4-H Program has an enormous stockpile of items, and like last year, everything is priced to sell, with many great deals to be found. All fabric is being sold by the piece at just $2 a yard. The sale’s proceeds benefit the local 4-H program.
The city plans to use the funding to improve its aging infrastructure, specifically its sewer system. The target areas would be on the west side of the Port City and include the city’s component of SUNY Oswego.
Judith A. Kessler Kay, 71, of Phoenix, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital Center, Syracuse, NY, on Saturday July 25, 2015.
The winning 50-50 Oswego Harborfest ticket has been drawn. The winning number is a yellow ticket 344655. The person with this ticket will receive $3,902.36.
