Electronic-Music Innovator To Open Focus On Faculty series

Composer and SUNY Oswego music faculty member Dr. Paul Leary will present electronic music influenced by Nirvana, display a game-derived video project and feature live local instrumentalists at 3 p.m. Sept. 20, in Sheldon Hall ballroom. Leary’s “Perfume” will highlight the event, which launches the college’s 2015 Focus on Faculty Series, featuring seven performances throughout the school year.

Oswego Man Charged For Allegedly Assaulting Police, EMT

SUNY Oswego University Police Thursday night (Sept. 3) arrested Joshua R. Patterson, 24, of 104 W. Cayuga St. in Oswego and charged him with four counts of second-degree assault, among other charges. Police received a call of a suspicious person on the lakefront outside Scales Hall shortly after 11 p.m. Sept. 3. An officer approached Patterson, who gave a false name and became belligerent, the officer said.

Michael Barnes Flies to Budweiser International Classic 200 Pole Position

Oswego Speedway’s Budweiser International Classic 200 will be led to the green flag on Sunday by ‘The Hustler’ Michael Barnes, driving the Syrell Racing No. 68 Novelis Supermodified. Barnes cranked just the second 15.8 second lap in the history of non-wing Supermodified racing at the ‘Steel Palace’ on Friday night with a lap of 15.899 seconds.

I think everyone has at least one thing that is a must-do during the summer. For me it is spending time on the Erie Canal away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday world. This year I took the MidLakes Navigation’s Emita II from Dutchman’s Landing to Cross Lake. The name Dutchman’s Landing intrigues me. Captain Dan Wiles explained that before MidLakes Navigation bought the land there was a bar there of the same name.
