With all the challenges that we face in our daily lives, it easily can be overlooked how lucky we are to live in the United States. Our form of government, the structure of which is set forth in the U.S. Constitution, is surely an integral part of our greatness.
At Monday night’s meeting, the Common Council honored a veteran Oswego police officer who died in the line of duty. Lieutenant Don Hill had served Oswego as a police officer for more than 20 years. He was struck and killed by a vehicle while directing traffic on Nov. 11, 1995. The Civic Plaza will be dedicated as the Donald R. Hill Plaza.
Fulton city clerk/chamberlain Daniel O’Brien headed the first 2016 general budget meeting for the city of Fulton alongside Mayor Ron Woodward Sr. and the rest of the city council Monday. The first look into the general numbers shows a proposed budget of 16.3 million dollars, an increase from this year’s 15.7 million dollar budget.
The village of Hannibal is holding its 12th annual Country Christmas on Nov. 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local businesses hold their annual open houses including vendors, food and wine tastings, craft shows, and more. Live music, carolers, and other activities will take over the village.
The Guidance Department of G. Ray Bodley High School in the Fulton City School District will again host its annual “Financial Aid Night” for students and their parents or guardians on December 8 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
