An Oswego resident has been awarded a $1,000 per year “Educational Foundation Academic Distinction” scholarship to attend Alfred State. Eric Yurkon is slated to graduate in 2016 from Oswego High School and intends to enroll in the electrical engineering technology program.
‘Student Night’ returns to kick off the Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium at 6 p.m. on April 1. The Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego hosts the sixth annual event which features an esteemed panel of multi-national historians through April 3.

The abolitionist movement and those involved in the Underground Railroad will be the topic of the February 22 meeting of the Hannibal Historical Society. The meeting will be held at the Community Center on Oswego Street, beginning at 7 p.m.
Scholars, scientists, educators and students are invited to submit proposals by March 15 for the 21st annual Rice Creek Associates Small Grants Program. Approved projects must involve work at SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station. Awards will be announced on or about April 15.
