Martin C. Growe, 62, of Volney-Minetto, passed away on Saturday April 23, 2016, at The Manor at Seneca Hill in Oswego after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Student volunteerism, citizenship and community spirit were celebrated during the annual President’s Youth Service Awards ceremony held in the John C. Birdlebough High School cafeteria. Superintendent Paul Lear will lead a walking tour of the 1814 Battle of Oswego at Fort Ontario State Historic Site at 7 p.m. May 5. Lear will incorporate new information and insights into the battle gained from his research at the National Archives and other sources. The battlefield walking tour will begin inside the old stone fort and proceed at a slow pace.
