Oswego Renaissance Association founder and director Paul Stewart was this week’s guest at Oswego Rotary. Stewart updated members on the 2016 grants currently available to residents who qualify living in the city of Oswego.
The SUNY Oswego theater and music departments’ presentation of “Space Pirates of Planet Penzance” will open at 7:30 p.m. April 22, in Hewitt ballroom, transporting its musical musings on love and duty into the future. The futuristic adaptation of the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera continues its run at 7:30 p.m. April 23 and 29, with a finale at 2 p.m. May 1.
The Children’s Room at the Oswego Public library offers free story hour, crafts, and snacks for children. Story hours take place on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
During the campaign, officers will conduct details focusing on different traffic safety threats each day. The safety threats consist of speeding in school zone enforcement, seatbelt and child restraints enforcement, cell phone and texting enforcement, underage drinking and impaired driving enforcement and operation safe stop enforcement.
Erica Loucks from Fulton, serving with the 827th Engineer Company, is promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.
To help residents improve their health status, Oswego Health is offering free workshops developed by Stanford University. The healthy living classes will be held on Mondays, starting May 9 and ending June 20, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Oswego Hospital’s medical affairs conference room.
Fulton officials discussed increased federal aid for two city bridge repair projects during regular business at Tuesday’s (April 5) council meeting. The council unanimously authorized and approved increased funding for rehabilitation projects for both the North Sixth Street bridge over CSX railway and the Oneida Street bridge over the Oswego River.
