On Sunday June 19, at approximately 4:45 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle operating erratically on State Route 104 in the town of Oswego. Investigation at the scene revealed the operator, 19-year-old Esther B. Rubinow from 98 E. Mohawk Street Oswego, was intoxicated, police said.
The school board meeting for tonight has been changed to 4 p.m. This time change is due to the board entering into executive session at the beginning of the meeting. It may last up to an hour.
Veronica Louise Ballard, 68, of Oswego, passed away on Friday June 17, 2016, at Morningstar Care Center.
Following on the heels of record State Budget increase in school aid to the Oswego City School District, Senator Patty Ritchie today (June 21) delivered more good news to students and families, in the form of a $150,000 special grant to help rescue the city schools’ sports programs that were slashed by the district.
Oswego Expeditions is sponsoring a series of heritage bus tours this summer and fall to celebrate Oswego County’s 200th anniversary. Tours are scheduled for one Saturday a month in communities across Oswego County between July and October.

The Upstate Energy Jobs Coalition on Monday (June 20) highlighted the diverse set of voices that are rallying in support of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Clean Energy Standard due to a measure that will value upstate nuclear energy plants for the carbon-free energy they produce, leveling the playing field and ensuring that these plants are able to contribute to New York’s cleaner energy future.
Recently, someone stole “Hoover” a hand-carved dog from Mexico Point Park. “Hoover” was handcrafted by a local artist and is a valuable piece of art. It is part of a project to show the history and usage of the park over the years. It is so sad that some person or persons can be so selfish and have so little respect for themselves and their community that they would steal a piece of art from their park, park staff said.
The 29th annual Oswego Harborfest is pleased to announce the lineup for its special Senior Concert, which is scheduled to take place on July 29 from 11:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. under the Family Tent in West Park.
