“Oswego County has a rich and colorful heritage and we are indebted to our local historians and historic sites for keeping that heritage alive,” said Janet Clerkin, Oswego County Tourism and Public Information Coordinator. “Path Through History Weekend showcases events taking place June18 and 19 at historic and cultural destinations across New York State. More than 300 events will take place across the state, including three events in Oswego County.”

Tornadoes, fires, storms, ice and even the occasional cutting of fiber optic cables leave people without the means to communicate. In these cases, the one consistent service that has never failed has been Amateur Radio.

The Oswego County Legislature recognized Oswego County Opportunities for its dedication and commitment to county residents as the agency marks its 50th anniversary. The organization began in 1966 as the Community Action Agency, a product of President Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty campaign.
