Campers and counselors at Camp Hollis welcomed members of the Oswego County Legislature to enjoy a hearty lunch at the lakeside campus.
Oswego AmeriCorps member Norman Berlin III is working on a project this summer to preserve the stone walls of Fort Ontario State Historic Site by using non-toxic sprays to eliminate weeds and grass that are damaging the fort’s walls. Volunteers will spray weeds and grass with white cider vinegar, dish soap, and Epsom salts.
Last week, Central New York received great news when, at its meeting in Albany, the state Public Service Commission adopted a plan to help Upstate New York’s struggling nuclear power plants. As most people in Oswego County know, our nuclear power plants (FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Units 1 and 2) have been struggling economically because of low natural gas prices.
Members of the Oswego County AmeriCorps program provide services for families and their children at many different sites throughout the county.
CNY Arts Center joins Jazz Fest weekend with the fifth annual Arts Fest offering multiple art experiences around Fulton, August 12-14 including a Fun Walk around the city bridges to support the Arts along with arts and crafts vendors and theatre performances of Pollyanna at night.

The Oswego County Health Department recently presented Oswego Family Physicians, P.C. with a certificate of excellence for having a vaccination rate of 93 percent for its 19- to 35-month-old age group.
To be named to the Dean’s List, Union students must have a grade point average of 3.5 for the entire year and meet certain other requirements.
