The Fulton Public Library has announced the date for its 2016 Memoir Project presentation. The project is a local history program designed to commemorate significant events in Fulton by helping its residents preserve their memories. The presentation will take place November 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cayuga Community College’s Fulton campus community room.
Political Posturing definition: Taking a position on an issue strictly because it is politically advantageous to do so. For example, being against something solely because the other side is in favor of it. This past Oswego County Legislative meeting saw me being accused of Political Posturing. This is the second time in three years that I have been accused of this by the Chairman of the Legislature.
Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, the recipient of the 2015 National Civil Rights Museum’s Freedom Award, will speak at SUNY Oswego on Nov. 16, with a documentary on her life airing the previous evening. Mulholland’s talk will take place at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in Sheldon Hall ballroom.
With a focus on its impact area of ending hunger United Way of Greater Oswego County will hold its 11th annual Stone Soup Luncheon November 3 at St. Joseph’s Parish Center, 240 W. First St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Exelon Generation Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Systems Engineer and NAYGN Chapter President Peter Frantellizzi and Site Vice President Peter Orphanos presented Oswego County Opportunities Development Coordinator Margaret Barclay with a check for $10,000 in support of OCO’s upcoming “Giving Thanks for 50 Years” event.
Members of the knitting club at Springside at Seneca Hill have been thinking of others while they knit afghans. The group recently donated its handiwork to Oswego County Hospice.
SUNY Oswego reinstituted a Homecoming celebration in 2015, and decided it was so successful that the 2016 celebration has been expanded to two days. Homecoming 2016 will take place Nov. 4 and 5 at various locations around campus and the city of Oswego. In 2015, hundreds of students, alumni and friends of the Oswego college community participated in Homecoming events.
Oswego County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner, District 13 presented a proclamation designating the month of October as National Chiropractic Health Month in Oswego County.
Eric Hellquist from SUNY Oswego, plant ecologist and Associate Professor of Biological Sciences, was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary. Dr. Hellquist spoke about what he refers to as the ‘Ripple Effect’ on our Great Lakes.
