Operation Prevent In Full Force; Officers Combat Underage Drinking

The Oswego City Police Department is enforcing a more educational approach to preventing underage drinking and the usage of fake IDs before issuing violations, said Lt. Charles Searor. Searor said that the department will reach out to students in a number of ways through the college and even reaching out to students off-campus. “We used to just do enforcement and not a lot of education and outreach with both students and bars,” Searor said. “We’ve kind of taken a different avenue and tried to educate [and] outreach first.”

Bank Robbery Suspects Apprehended

On Tuesday, November 29, at approximately 3:40 a.m., State Police arrested 18-year-old Calyx A. Estep from 32 State Route 49, Cleveland, and 21-year-old Jordan T. Garrett, from 2284 County Route 37, Lot #66, West Monroe, for Robbery 2nd degree, a class “C” felony.
