The idea to create the minor grew from Christopher Mack, an associate professor of history, and sociology department chair Tim Delaney, who share a deep interest in sports. Delaney, often with participation from Mack, holds a sportsmanship symposium every March.
Students at John C. Birdlebough High School recently capped off Red Ribbon Week with nationally recognized speaker David Flood. Standing before an audience of nearly 600 Phoenix teenagers, Flood infused humor and honesty into his motivational presentation.

Joan E. Duver, 90, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
On October 28, State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative throughout Oswego County. Troopers checked 11 establishments in the towns of Granby, Schroeppel, Palermo, Volney and the village of Phoenix. The detail resulted in 3 arrests at 3 different convenience stores.
There are people in our town who’d like you to believe with their signs and rhetoric that voting to make the Highway Superintendent position an appointed position will take away your right to vote on town issues. I’d like to counter that with some points regarding that claim. This is not an issue of “taking away our right to vote.”
Included among the more than 60 human services that OCO offers is its Homeless and Runaway Youth Shelter. The only program of its kind in the county OCO’s Homeless and Runaway Youth Shelter serves to stabilize households by preventing homelessness and facilitating the transition from homelessness to permanent housing.
