Taking the place of former president and first ward councilor Thomas Kenyon, the council nominated and unanimously approved second ward councilor David Ritchie as president for 2017 during the first regular meeting of the new year. In other business, county legislator Frank Castiglia Jr., D-Fulton, stepped to the podium to speak to the common council at the first regular meeting of the new year. His first order of business, making a donation to the non-profit organization, Friends of Fulton Parks.
At Tuesday night’s public hearing, Dr. Dean Goewey, superintendent, offered a brief overview of the school district’s plan to sell the Education Center and relocate its central offices. He also responded to a handful of questions from the public. The district will hold a vote January 10 regarding two propositions – the sale of the building and use of funds to move central offices. Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m.
Susan G. Martin, 64, a lifelong resident of Fulton passed away peacefully on Monday January 2, 2017, at Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego.
Marie F. Ellis, 93, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday January 1, 2017, at Seneca Hill Manor in Oswego.
Oswego Health welcomed its first baby of the new year, Marcey Jean Grace Krom, at 12:19 a.m. New Year’s Day. She weighed six pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Students in Cheryl Fassett’s classes at John C. Birdlebough High School are exploring math in new ways through a variety of projects. Using the game “Angry Birds” as the theme of an algebra lesson, students recently learned about parabolas.
