To qualify for induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, a student must have achieved at least junior standing with a cumulative 3.4 grade point average while earning a varsity letter in an NCAA intercollegiate sport.
To be named all-region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top 5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top 3 relay team.
In 2005, coordinators organized the first ever Regional Awareness Program for Young Drivers, nicknamed RAP for short. The program was prompted by several accidents involving teen drivers that year. Today, statistics show that teen driving deaths, at least locally, have dropped dramatically.
Abby Beth Chack is being honored by Riverside Artisans as its Artist of the Month for April. She creates original beaded jewelry in a wide variety of styles and colors. Her designs have delighted Riverside Artisans customers since she joined the Oswego art cooperative in 2015.
The Children with Special Needs division of the Oswego County Health Department provides a variety of services for children from birth through 21 years of age. As children with special needs travel through the many phases of life, the Children with Special Needs Division helps families navigate through the educational and health care systems to find services that best suit their needs.
G. Ray Bodley High School recently welcomed Liza Wiemer for it’s first-ever author visit. Library media specialist Wendy Scalfaro offered up the library for the entire day on April 5 so Wiemer could host workshops with teachers and students on “The Power of Storytelling” and “The Unique You.”
This marks the seventh consecutive year that the PCSD has been honored with the prestigious title, which takes into account the efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum.
The Richard S. Shineman Foundation has donated $250,000 to Catholic Charities of Oswego County. The donation will go directly toward the renovation of CCOC’s new location, the former Cayuga Community College and Center for Instruction Technology and Innovation site on West Broadway.
Outstanding Varsity Volleyball players from Sandy Creek High School were named All Stars by the Frontier League. They included: Allison Burrows, Maggie Vazquez and Carly Lyndaker.
