Nick Habel, human resources manager for Huhtamaki in Fulton, was recently honored as the United Way Campaign Coordinator Volunteer of the Year at the United Way of Greater Oswego County’s Salute to Volunteers and Leadership Giving Luncheon.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Health Committee presented a proclamation to members of the Oswego County Health Department’s nursing staff in recognition of National Infant Immunization Week scheduled for April 22 to 29. The annual recognition raises awareness about the importance of vaccinating children early in life.

The third annual Parent University was “phenomenal,” said Geri Geitner, the director of student support services at Fulton City School District. “The best part for me, was to see everyone having fun. To see that school is fun, learning is fun, and to see parents and children getting to enjoy that together,” she said. The event, in its third year, has grown bigger and better with each passing year. Saturday, (April 1) G. Ray Bodley High School hosted the event with five hours of free family fun.
Oswego County Opportunities has announced that its Wellness at Work Conference will be held April 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at River Vista, 810 S. First St. Originally scheduled for March 15 the event was rescheduled due to weather.
Mark Southwick presented Linda Eagan with a check for $1,000 to support the Fulton Block Builder (FBB) matching grant program. “Huhtamaki believes it is important to do the right thing by each other and our customers: including the communities where we work and live. FBB’s mission to Restore City Pride -One Block at a Time is a program Huhtamaki is proud to support,” said Southwick. The FBB Block Challenge is a revitalization program that encourages groups of neighbors to collaborate on exterior improvements to their properties in order to build confidence in Fulton’s neighborhoods and inspire others to reinvest.
The investigation has revealed a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, operated by 47 year-old, Jennifer L. Weaver from Red Creek, was traveling eastbound on State Route 3 in the town of Hannibal when she struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway a half mile west of Country Route 7.
Kai Leigh-Lyne Wheaton was born in Oswego Hospital on March 30, 2017.
Marlene (King, Woolson) DeGroff, 81, of Central Square, peacefully departed on Friday March 31, 2017, surrounded in love by her family.
