Just in time for Memorial Day celebrations later this month and the Flag Day holiday in June, some Oswego County schools are receiving some brand new American Flags due to the efforts of a local veteran and a member of the County Legislature. Commander John Young of the American Legion Post 587 and Legislator Dan Farfaglia teamed up this year to assist school districts that were in need of new American Flags.
As a Republican candidate for the District 15 seat on the Oswego County Legislature, I was invited to attend the Oswego City Republican Committee endorsement meeting. My opponent, Nathan Emmons, is a committee member as is Mayor Billy Barlow and council members Shawn Walker, John Gosek Jr., and Robert Corradino. I knew going in that the committee would endorse my opponent, and they did.
It was Youth Day at the Oswego County Legislature meeting Thursday. However, a centurion was the special guest of honor. Ralph A. D’Amico of Oswego, a World War II veteran, was recognized upon the occasion of his 100th birthday.
The CNY Chapter of Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening diseases in 15 counties across Central New York and the community is a big part of the process. The CNY Chapter of Make-A-Wish grants between 75-100 wishes each year, with a lot of help from community members. Diane Kuppermann, CEO and president of the CNY Chapter of Make-A-Wish works with a close team of seven full-time employees, one part-time and interns in the Make-A-Wish office.
Mary R. Place, 91, formerly of Fulton, NY, and Freeville, NY, went to God peacefully Tuesday May 9, 2017, at the Groton Community Health Care, Groton, NY.
August Loomis, 85, formerly of Fulton will be buried 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, at Jacksonville Cemetery.
