A Hastings resident is facing felony arson charges as well as other charges following a fire that destroyed a residence, a garage and two vehicles. David T. Wendt, 36, of 149 CR 38, Hastings, was arrested Sunday at 5:03 a,m. He allegedly lit a pair of pants on fire causing a garage along with the belongings inside, including two vehicles and residence to be destroyed.
The New York State Police in Pulaski are investigating a criminal mischief to the Village of Mexico Cemetery on Academy Street, Mexico. Numerous headstones were pushed over and damaged, police said today (April 2). This occurred between March 31 and April 1, in the historic area of the cemetery.
An Oswego High School student has been recognized by the White House for outstanding contributions to community service, one of the highest honors a high school student is eligible to receive from the United States federal government. Claudia Chetney, a senior at OHS, was honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award at a recent Oswego City School District Board of Education meeting.
The Oswego County Health Department will hold its next rabies clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the County Highway Garage, 957 Centerville Road, Pulaski. New York State law requires that all cats, dogs, and ferrets be vaccinated against rabies.
Earth Day will be celebrated around the world on Sunday, April 22. In Oswego County we are blessed with beautiful lakes and rivers, parks and wilderness areas that provide year-round recreation to residents and visitors alike. Unfortunately, too many people have gotten the impression that it’s OK to litter because someone else will be there to pick it up. The Oswego County Green Team is a volunteer group of citizens who organized a few years ago to reduce litter in Oswego County.

The Oswego Head Start recently hosted a My Guy and Me: Date Night at the Head Start center. Male role models attended the event where they enjoyed dinner, dancing and card games with their children.
