AmeriCorps staffer Victoria Marks will lead themed lantern tours of Fort Ontario State Historic Site on East Fourth Street in Oswego this summer. The program runs on Wednesday nights from July 4 to Aug. 30. Tours begin inside the old stone fort at 9 p.m. in July and 8:45 p.m. in August. Groups will wind their way around the park and visit the post cemetery.

June is “National Dairy Month,” a time to honor the contributions of the dairy industry to our country.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Dan Farfaglia introduced Jason Chiesa, who is the Regional Representative for Central New York from the NYS Department of Labor. Chiesa spoke about economic development and workforce development at the local and state level and how it can affect different areas.
An interest-based research project at Hannibal’s Dennis M. Kenney Middle School evolved into a life-changing experience for eighth grader Avery Michaud.
Sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary, the show will be held at the VFW field, Route 3 North. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The show will run from noon until 5 p.m.
National Honor Society members from the Oswego City School District attended Oswego County Government Day during the May legislature meeting to voice local support for an historic landmark.
Oswego County Sheriff Reuel A. Todd announced that another Boating Safety Course will be held in June. There is no charge for the training.
The $2,000 Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing a post-secondary program for engineering or related CNC machine technology.
“Harmful algal blooms, also known as HABs, are dense populations of cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae. Not all blooms are harmful, but some algal blooms can produce toxins that affect the liver, nervous system, and skin of humans and their pets,” said Jesse Lepak, Ph.D., Great Lakes Fisheries and Ecosystem Health Specialist with New York Sea Grant.
To be included on the Dean’s List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average.
