Former Board Member Continues Call To Oust Current Member
Aimee Callen won re-election to president of the Oswego Board of Education on Tuesday and Brandon Lagoe was named vice president. Prior to the start of the regular session, a former board member continued his fight to have an “illegal” member removed from the board. At his final meeting last month, Tom DeCastro claimed that (then-vice president of the board) James Bell is serving on the board illegally.

Mayor Barlow Proposes Program to Address Homelessness in Oswego
Mayor Billy Barlow announced today an initiative addressing homelessness in the Port City using a street canvassing project during evenings and weekends to locate homeless individuals in the community and link them to the appropriate resources to improve their situation and prevent individuals from living on Oswego streets, parks and public space areas. He is proposing to contract with Oswego County Opportunities.

SUNY Canton Recognizes 2018 Graduates
“I’m tremendously proud of this year’s graduating class,” said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. “Many of our graduates will go directly into careers corresponding with their field of study, while others will seek to continue their education. Regardless of their decision, I’m confident that they will be well prepared for their next adventure.”

Sheriff’s Summer Camp Continues
The Oswego County Deputies Association coordinates the event locally. The children will spend the next week enjoying land and water activities, in addition to interacting with Sheriff’s deputies who are the camp’s counselors.

Mini-Training: Story of Self Scheduled
This training will enable participants to use the “public narrative” methodology to tell their good story using proven techniques developed by Marshall Ganz. It will be held on July 23 from 5 – 7 p.m., in the Community Room at the Oswego City Library.

Allen Bjorkman Named Artist of the Month for July
Allen Bjorkman is being featured as Artist of the Month for July at the Riverside Artisans Cooperative, as he celebrates his 50th year as an artist. Bjorkman is well-known for his historic prints and restorations, but he is also an accomplished abstract artist.
