City Eyes Funding To Hasten Lighthouse Project

At this week’s Administrative Services Committee meeting, councilors gave a big boost to the lighthouse restoration project. Mayor Billy Barlow requested discussion and funding approval for the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse-Exterior Restoration and Painting Project. The committee sent the request to the full council.

County Health Department Reports EEE Found in Mosquitoes in West Monroe

New York State Department of Health informed the Oswego County Health Department on Tuesday, August 7, that the Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus was detected in two pools of bird-biting mosquitoes collected last week from the field station at Toad Harbor Swamp in the town of West Monroe.

David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach in Constantia is Closed

The Oswego County Health Department announced today (August 8) that the David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach on Oneida Lake is closed to swimming due to the visual presence of a blue-green algal bloom. Several public beaches in Oswego County on Lake Ontario remain open to swimming.
