A team of educators from Oswego Middle School recently attended the NYS Middle School Association Annual Conference where their principal, Mary Beth Fierro, served as keynote speaker. With the support of her OMS colleagues, Fierro captivated the audience with her “Creating Connections at the Middle Level: #powerful” presentation.

“Similar to my last two winters, I am not starting the parking ban by using an arbitrary date (Dec 1). I hold off as long as I can before placing the ban on to limit the inconvenience to residents without a driveway,” the mayor told Oswego County Today “So, I will not be placing the ban on Dec. 1. Folks should wait for an announcement when a significant snowstorm is forecast for the Oswego area.” Also on December 1, the city will host the 31st annual tree lighting event at Civic Plaza from 1 to 6:30 p.m.

The Central New York Chapter of the American Red Cross has established a shelter for people in the village of Phoenix and the town of Schroeppel affected by a water outage.

Sixteen not-for-profit organizations received grant awards totaling $800,000 from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation at its November board meeting in the last of three 2018 grant rounds. All funded projects reach a wide range of people in Oswego County.
