FULTON, NY – The 33rd annual Fulton Memorial Day Salute celebration, May 24, will be held at the Fulton Community Center on West Broadway.
As in the past years, the event will feature the biggest and the best Saturday morning parade, local music groups, a great food court, drinks, rides and fireworks. All entertainment is offered free to the public.
The theme for 2014 is “Showing Gratitude To Our Veterans.”
Jim Weinhold, honored 2014 Veteran of the Year, will serve as the grand marshal of the Saturday parade.
Oswego County’s biggest parade will begin Saturday’s festivities at 10 a.m. and will feature about ten bands among which are many returning entries including the City of Syracuse Highland Pipe Band, The Central New York Fire and Police Band, The Island Band, the Central Square Middle School Marching Band, The Original Yanks Drum & Bugle Corp and Naples High School Marching Band.
At noon, parade bands will be featured in the Community Center on the Fulton Savings Bank Stage. Awards will be given for winning parade entries.
At 2 p.m., on the Fulton Savings Bank Stage, CNY Arts Center will entertain children and adults alike with a talent show.
At 4 p.m., Brass Exchange, a high-energy horn band will round out a not-to-be missed Saturday afternoon.
At 7 p.m., Memorial Day Salute is pleased to present The Chris Taylor Band, Central New York’s premier Top 40 county music band, on our stage.
With musicians that any band would envy, the group has incredible dynamics and stage presence that leave fans breathless on the dance floor and tapping their toes at the bar.
With the help of local Syracuse radio stations B104.7 and BIG FROG 104, they have opened for Nashville acts such as Big & Rich, Craig Morgan, Mark Chestnut, Diamond Rio, Joe Diffie and Tracey Lawrence, just to name a few.
The evening will conclude with fireworks over the lake at 9:30 p.m.
Memorial Day Salute is sponsored by the Fulton Service Clubs: Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary, and Sunrise Rotary and the Fulton Veterans’ Council.
