The new Mexico branch of Oswego County Federal Credit Union, (OCFCU), 5828 Scenic Ave. (Route 3), is the former railroad depot for the village. It was was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, and was built in 1905 by the Oswego and Rome Railroad and last used as a railroad depot in 1940, said Bill Carhart, OCFCU CEO. “It’s probably the only financial institution in the county that has a hitching post and watering trough for horses,” Carhart said. “We installed these services to accommodate our growing number of Mennonite members who visit us in their horse-drawn carriages.” The branch celebrated its grand opening Dec. 20 with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
