CiTi Students Place In Regional SkillsUSA Competition

MEXICO – The Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation walked away from the Area II Regional Conference SkillsUSA competition with nine first place awards, nine second place awards and five third place winners.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that creates opportunities for career and technical education students to demonstrate their learned skills and abilities. Next up for the competitors is the New York State competition in April.

The event was held at SUNY Morrisville and showcased the talents of students from 17 different career and technical education programs. SUNY Morrisville will offer a $250 scholarship per semester to any Area II SkillsUSA participant student who chooses to pursue their education at Morrisville State College.

First place CiTi award recipients were: Mackenzie Bogart (Fulton, Advertising Design), Kaitlyn Rice (Mexico, Basic Health Care Skills), Mikayla Ogden (Fulton, Commercial Baking), Amber Spoon (Hannibal, Cosmetology Junior) and Keysha Rojas-Polo (Fulton, Nail Care A). Emmalee Bulluck (Sandy Creek) also received a medal for acting as a model in the Nail Care A competition. Crime scene investigation team Shelby Buffham (Fulton), Megan Gass (Central Square) and Jasmyn Williams (Sandy Creek) also took first.

Second place CiTi award recipients were: Brett Draper (Hannibal, Collision Repair Technology), Mary Buske (Mexico, Early Childhood Education), Elizabeth Lobdell (Central Square, Health Occupations Portfolio) and Lexi Elmer (Oswego, Nail Care B). Kendyl Lutz (Fulton) also received a medal for acting as a model in the Nail Care B competition. Maryanne Farmer (APW), Jamie Hartley (Mexico), Brittany Keill (APW) and Austyn Shephard (Sandy Creek) also took second place in the Health Knowledge Bowl.

Third place CiTi award recipients were: Jon Sheary (Oswego, Carpenter’s Assistant Basic), Antoinette Lanning (Hannibal, Cosmetology Junior), Alicia Guzman (Fulton, First Aid/CPR), Tayler Dence (Hannibal, Medical Terminology) and Logan Scott (Hannibal, Precision Heavy Equipment Operation).
