Fairgrieve Students Collect Donations For Patients at Golisano Children’s Hospital

Fairgrieve Elementary School students and staff members have celebrated the fourth marking period with their final community service project of the 2018-19 school, as they sought to collect monetary donations to better the lives of sick and injured children.

Fairgreive Elementary students welcome Jenny Dickinson, coordinator of pediatric programs and events at Golisano Children’s Hospital, ahead of their fundraising effort to help provide additional entertainment and other needs for children who are patients of the Syracuse hospital.

During a recent Morning Express program, the school welcomed Jenny Dickinson, coordinator of pediatric programs and events at Golisano Children’s Hospital, to talk about what financial support may provide for the region’s youngest and sickest patients while they are cared for at the Syracuse hospital.

She explained that each of the 71 private rooms are each equipped with PlayStation 4’s, and when students stay for an extended period they may utilize a special school room tog et caught up on missed work.

There are several additional features, she said, to help make children comfortable.

“These are all really cool things we have at the hospital,” Dickinson said. “For all that fun, extra stuff, we rely on people in the community like you. I hope you have a very successful campaign.”

The student body erupted in cheer and remained ecstatic to bring in their coins and dollars to provide other entertainment or fun experiences for children who must stay at Golisano’s. A collection will be taken up during another Morning Express program.
