“Libraries are more than just places to find books. They’re important centers of learning and growth in our local communities,” said Senator Ritchie. “This funding will help to ensure the Fulton Public Library can continue to provide its patrons with the books, entertainment and educational resources they depend on.”

“Each and every day, we work to make the Fulton Public Library the hub of our community,” said library director Betty Maute. “Thanks to this support from Senator Ritchie, we will be able to make much-needed upgrades to our library. We can’t thank her enough for being a partner in our effort to provide patrons with increased opportunities for learning.”

A member of the Senate Select Committee on Libraries, Senator Ritchie has made it a priority in recent years to support local libraries.  Most recently, she advocated for passage of a new state budget that included a $9 million boost in funding for libraries.

“It was designed and built with funds provided by the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.”

As such we owe it to history to maintain this building. It is always a loss to the community in not just a physical resource, but to future generations of the history of a place.

Imagine if no one cared about the Statue of Liberty (they didn’t always), or The Eiffel Tower?

Thank you, Senator Richie, for all you do for your communities! This building is Fulton’s legacy, but YOU are this generations!
