ALERT: Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory for Hot, Humid Saturday

The National Weather Service warns that Saturday’s combination of heat, humidity and light winds will make temperatures feel like they’re above 100 degrees Saturday afternoon.

Highs from several services range from 92 to 99 degrees for Saturday in Oswego County.

The weather service issued a heat advisory for the area, meaning that heat-related illnesses are possible.

High heat can be especially dangerous for the elderly, infants and those who are ill.

The weather service’s advice for the day:

  • Drink fluids;
  • Stay in air-conditioned rooms if possible;
  • Stay out of the sun;
  • Check on relatives and neighbors;
  • Schedule outdoor work to early morning or early evening;
  • Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke;
  • Wear light and loose-fitting clothes.

  1. And don’t forget your animals. IF you are terribly HOT, remember, YOU aren’t wearing a fur coat, and you can sweat from your skin. THEY only have their paws and their mouths. If they are panting very, very hard, they are trying desperately to stay cool. Get them some cooler water and SHADE, and maybe even A/C, too! IF you love ’em, keep ’em healthy. IF you don’t, do it anyway. They can’t always find a cool spot if they are on a chain.
