Richland, NY – On Saturday, April 9th, Vorea Community Church in Richland, NY, will host a “Workshop to Encourage and Inspire” people to get involved with missions work through Operation Christmas Child.
The free program will begin with registration at 9:45am. The 10-11:30am program includes a presentation by Operation Christmas Child volunteer Area Coordinator Patty Jennings and the sharing of ideas.
Jennings has recently returned from a missions trip to the Dominican Republic where she helped distribute Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes filled with small toys, school supplies and hygiene items to children in need. The outreach to more than 100 countries is a project of the international Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse, headed by Franklin Graham.
In 2010, 8.18 million shoe boxes were distributed around the world. Vorea Community Church at 12 Waggoner Road, Richland, NY, is a relay center collection point for the New York North Central Area of Operation Christmas Child. More than 10,000 boxes were collected in Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, and Herkimer counties last year.
