The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (APW) Central School District Chapter of the National Honor Society will hold an induction ceremony for new members on December 18 beginning at 7 p.m. in the APW Junior/Senior High School Auditorium.
The induction ceremony is open to the public and family and friends of the inductees are invited to attend.
Students in the junior and senior class have been selected for membership into the NHS based on several requirements.
They must have a grade point average of 90 or above and possess qualities of leadership, service and character. Leadership is based on a student’s participation in community or school activities, or election to an office.
To meet the service requirements, students must have been active in service projects in the school or community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with both students and faculty.
The National Honor Society was established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.
The APW Chapter was established in 1971.
