ARISE Partners With CNY Arts To Showcase UNIQUE Artwork

OSWEGO – ARISE is delighted to be joining with CNYS Arts Center for an exhibit of the work featured in ARISE’s 2015 UNIQUE Art and Literary magazine.

The exhibit opens on September 23 and runs through October 12 at the CNY Arts Center in Fulton.

A reception will be held on September 25 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the exhibit.

Every year, ARISE invites people with disabilities to submit visual and literary art. An editorial board selects which pieces are included in the publication.

Submissions are received from people throughout the region. This year’s edition of the magazine features 58 original pieces.

“CNY Arts Center is excited to be hosting this wonderful exhibit. It is a living example of the power of artistic expression accessible to each of us and the perfect blending of organizations,” said Nancy Fox, executive director. “Using exhibit space at CNY Arts Center in collaboration with Cayuga Community College’s Mental Health Wellness week, students and community alike will have access to an artistic immersion in a topic with profound impact on our county. CNY Arts Center is proud to partner with Arise for this annual exhibit that is a must-see for everyone!”

“The opportunity to partner with CNY Arts Center is thrilling for the artists and writers, as well as everyone connected with ARISE,” said Sabine Ingerson, director of Oswego County ARISE. “We are proud that the beautiful work done by a number of Oswego County residents will be exhibited in Fulton. And we are delighted that people who come to see the exhibit will realize the gifts that people of all abilities have to share.”

ARISE is a non-profit Independent Living Center run by and for people with disabilities. The organization has been providing advocacy and services since 1979, and each year ARISE works with approximately 4,000 people of all ages who have all types of disabilities. All of these efforts keep us together as a community, and we hope to be able to say that we’re still together in the future.
