UPDATE: On September 30, the students within the Fulton City School District in grades UPK – 12 will have an early dismissal. Grades 7 – 12 will dismiss at 10:30 a.m. and morning Pre-K – 6 will dismiss at 11:15 a.m. There will be no afternoon Pre-K classes.
During the two-day camp held in August, the students had the opportunity to learn first-hand about careers in the healthcare field. The 19 participating eighth and ninth grade students took part in rotations that included the hospital’s laboratory, medical imaging and pharmacy departments, where they took part in hands-on learning activities.

Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge will improvise on their vintage guitars as they try to surprise a Sheldon Hall ballroom audience in a performance at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6, at SUNY Oswego. With the help of Lage’s and Eldridge’s 1939 Martin guitars, the musicians will explore a world of “spontaneous composition” in the free public performance presented by the SUNY Oswego music department.
On September 12, ARC of Oswego County hosted a concert at West Linear Park. The band performing was Flame, a group of talented musicians from upstate New York who happen to have disabilities. The band has been featured on “Good Morning America” as well as “The Today Show.”

The Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, Inc. will hold an autumn mixer for adults to learn more about what being a Girl Scout volunteer is all about. As a volunteer you’ll introduce girls to new experiences which show them they’re capable of more than they ever imagined.
On October 28, Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training and SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations will gather women from across New York State for Connections, a day-long conference to be held at River Vista Center in Fulton from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme for this year’s event is “Reset – Recharge – Revive.”
The Department of Social Services is looking for people who would like to become foster parents, particularly for children ages eight and over who may have special needs for supervision. All children available for adoption through DSS have been in foster care for a period of time.
CNY Arts Center announces daytime classes for homeschoolers and evening classes for adults. Wanting to provide art programming during daytime school hours for the active homeschool population, classes are being offered monthly to start at the Arts Center located at 357 State St.
U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Representative Dan Maffei today (Sept 22) announced that Oswego County Opportunities, Inc., has been awarded $250,000 through the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women.
