Oswego County Welcomes New York State Canal Conference
New York State Canal Corporation Director Brian U. Stratton announced that the conference is scheduled to take place at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego.

Three years after Alan L. Jones was convicted of second-degree murder in the killing of his 11-year-old stepsister, an appeals court panel is considering a plea that could set Jones free. The appeal hinges on a novel twist: That if Jones intended to kill Erin Maxwell, his murder conviction should be overturned.

The New York State Field Band Conference commenced the march to the Carrier Dome on Saturday night as high school bands were active throughout Central New York. The Marching Buccaneers headed west to East Irondequoit to compete against two other National Division bands. On Sept. 22, the Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers will host the annual Pageant of Champions.
“Gen Silent,” a critically acclaimed documentary about aging in the gay community, will lead off SUNY Oswego’s On Screen-In Person film series at 7 p.m. Sept. 25, at Oswego Cinema 7, 138 W. Second St. Producer and director Stu Maddux will answer audience questions after the film.
