The winner of “The Grand Marshall Award” for the most patriotic and interesting group was the Fulton Elks Club Lodge #830 float. Their float was elegantly decorated and gave a very positive patriotic message to the audience and the parade judges.

Mary Kate Cloonan, won second place in the Oswego Reading Council’s 2011 22nd Annual Writing Contest. This year’s topic was: “A Special Person In My Life Is…”. Mary Kate wrote about her mother.
“This weekend is about commemorating the 67th anniversary of D-Day, in which our national historic landmark tugboat, the LT-5, participated,” said Mercedes Niess, executive director of the museum. “We’re recognizing not only the veterans of our county but also this tugboat as well.”
The walking garden at Springside at Seneca Hill retirement community features a seating area under cover of a pergola with lavishly blooming wisteria.
Several area residents have been named to the President’s and Deans’ lists for the spring semester at SUNY Oswego.
