Oswego County Social Services Commissioner Frances Lanigan is retiring.
Lanigan announced her retirement to employees last week.
She declined to speak with Oswego County Today about her retirement in a polite e-mail exchange over the weekend, saying she would be “more prepared” to discuss it later in the month.

On April 30 participating chiropractors will offer chiropractic treatments for current and former patients, as well as examinations for new patients in exchange for a $15 donation to the United Way of Greater Oswego County.

Volunteers will meet at the McCrobie Civic Center on Lake Street (next to Breitbeck Park) on April 16 (or raindate April 17) at 1 p.m. Teams of volunteers will be assigned to one of 10 areas to pick up litter.

The All-County Chorus Festival was held in Fulton on April 1 and 2. Several Oswego High School students performed in the event.
The Buc varsity boys’ lacrosse team moved to 3-0 on the year with a 10-5 win over visiting Watertown in less than ideal conditions on Friday night at the Turrill Street Field. The Bucs got behind 2-1 after one quarter, but four in the second and a quartet of goals in the third put this game on ice.

A second person has been charged in connection with a drug bust late last month. On April 1, Oswego City Police arrested Tina L. Lucas, 38, of 143 Weller Road, Fulton.
Oswego kicked off a 200th anniversary commemoration on Saturday with the War of 1812 Symposium. The event, at The American Foundry, consisted of a series of lectures which focused on Oswego County’s role in the War of 1812. Several local historians and history buffs attended.
