Symposium Honors Local Soldiers of the War of 1812

Historian Shawn Doyle will present a talk about local War of 1812 soldiers at the Oswego County War of 1812 Symposium on Saturday, April 2. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Foundry on West Seneca Street in Oswego. Pictured are Pulaski resident Ralph Price (1793-1874) with his daughters (l-r) Polly, Cordelia, Caroline and Lydia. Price served in the War of 1812 and was one of many who belonged to the Town of Richland Militia that responded to the call of duty at Sackets Harbor. Retirement Party Scheduled For Oswego County Undersheriff

Robert J. Lighthall recently announced his intent to retire from his position as Undersheriff with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office effective March 31. In his honor, a retirement party will be held at the Castaways Riverside Restaurant located at 916 County Route 37, Brewerton, on April 2.

Spring Play ‘Grease’ to Rock SUNY Oswego Stage

SUNY Oswego student actors Amber Hammonds, right, and Jamine Coley, second from right, starring as Sandy Dumbrowski and Danny Zuko, join Jessica Quindlen as Patty and Erik Shuler as Doody in SUNY Oswego's spring theatre production of "Grease." The musical will run the first three Friday and Saturday nights in April, bookended by a March 31 preview and a Sunday, April 17, finale in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre. In a setting evoking the play's 1950s era, the actors gather in Mom and Pop's Soda Shop and Eatery, 23 E. Utica St.SUNY Oswego’s theatre department will present “Grease,” the exuberant tribute to 1950s teen passions, in an eight-performance, three-weekend production.
