Oswego County legislators today take up plans that could lead to property taxes being paid on the county’s three nuclear plants.

The plants, all in the town of Scriba, will pay no property taxes until at least 2016 under an agreement with the owners of the nuclear plants.Ã‚Â Legislators will consider scrapping that law. Today, they’ll vote on whether to hold a public hearing on the issue, a required step in changing a local law.

Hannibal High Prepares Annual Musical

Hannibal High School will present itÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s 8th annual musical on Thursday, February 25th and Friday, February 26th at 7:15 P.M. in the Lockwood Auditorium at the high school. Due to licensing restrictions, we are not able to publicize the title or details about the production. We can say that this yearÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s musical is the winner of multiple TONY awards, including the 2005 TONY for Musical Comedy.

February Food for Fines

The Oswego Public Library is taking nonperishable food donations throughout February as payment for each fine or returned overdue item a patron has. Starting March 1st, the maximum fine per card goes to $20.00.

Parish Girl Scout Helps Seniors

The Senior Services Division of OCO delivers hot, nutritious meals to seniors in your community. During the winter months it is sometimes difficult to reach the seniors due to inclement weather. To rectify this situation we are currently creating Ã¢â‚¬Å“Blizzard BagsÃ¢â‚¬Â. Kelsie Wilson of the Parish Girl Scout Troop 710 decorated these Ã¢â‚¬Å“Blizzard BagsÃ¢â‚¬Â and collected individually wrapped non-perishable food and drink items to be delivered to home bound and other seniors in the Parish community. Kelsie earned leadership hours with this community service project.

Oswego State Women’s Hockey Falls Short In 5-2 Loss To Hamilton

Hamilton notched three power play goals as the Continentals handed the Oswego State womenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s ice hockey team a 5-2 loss on Wednesday night at the Campus Center Ice Arena. Abby Runyon and Stephanie Miguel tallied two goals each for Hamilton, which improved to 9-8-3 overall. The Lakers, who fell to 7-13-1 on the season, will travel to Elmira for a weekend series starting on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Improved OHS Science Facilities Enhance Education Experience

Science students at Oswego High School have commenced a new era. For years, the high school science rooms were out-dated. However, several years ago the voters approved a capital project which provided new science facilities for the district.

Construction Work Gets Under Way In Oswego Schools During February Break

This year, the February break may be much shorter than usual, but that wonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t stop a major work effort from getting under way in the Oswego City School District. Work will get started at Oswego Middle School,Ã‚Â Leighton Elementary School and FitzhughÃ‚Â Elementary School as well as continue at Oswego High School.
