Legislature Takes Up Nuke Plant Taxes, Pay Raises, Bridges

Oswego County legislators today take up plans that could lead to property taxes being paid on the county’s three nuclear plants.

The plants, all in the town of Scriba, will pay no property taxes until at least 2016 under an agreement with the owners of the nuclear plants.  Legislators will consider scrapping that law. Today, they’ll vote on whether to hold a public hearing on the issue, a required step in changing a local law.

Hannibal High Prepares Annual Musical

Hannibal High School will present it’s 8th annual musical on Thursday, February 25th and Friday, February 26th at 7:15 P.M. in the Lockwood Auditorium at the high school. Due to licensing restrictions, we are not able to publicize the title or details about the production. We can say that this year’s musical is the winner of multiple TONY awards, including the 2005 TONY for Musical Comedy.

Oswego State Women’s Hockey Falls Short In 5-2 Loss To Hamilton

Hamilton notched three power play goals as the Continentals handed the Oswego State women’s ice hockey team a 5-2 loss on Wednesday night at the Campus Center Ice Arena. Abby Runyon and Stephanie Miguel tallied two goals each for Hamilton, which improved to 9-8-3 overall. The Lakers, who fell to 7-13-1 on the season, will travel to Elmira for a weekend series starting on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Construction Work Gets Under Way In Oswego Schools During February Break

This year, the February break may be much shorter than usual, but that won’t stop a major work effort from getting under way in the Oswego City School District. Work will get started at Oswego Middle School,  Leighton Elementary School and Fitzhugh  Elementary School as well as continue at Oswego High School.
