Sea Cadets Recruiting New Members
The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corp Truxtun DDG-103 Division in Oswego is inviting youth between the ages of 10 and 18 to check out the advantages of joining the sea cadet program.

U.S. News Picks Oswego for Value Among Well-regarded Public Schools
U.S. News & World Report has listed SUNY Oswego — and four other SUNY campuses — on a list of just 30 well-regarded colleges nationally that offer small classes without high prices.
“Attending a big, affordable public university doesn’t doom a student to huge lecture halls. U.S. News has found dozens of lower-priced colleges in which at least half of all classes have fewer than 20 students,” the magazine’s Kim Clark wrote Nov. 24.

Christmas Harp Recital at Half-Shire
Kelsey Munz, an accomplished harpist from Osceola New York will play a selection of Christmas music for this free concert. This years event will be held in memory of the late Pearl Flagg Bontomaise, a member of the society who recently passed away.

West Baptist Church Holds Advent Concert
The concert will start with a Thanksgiving piece followed by the Advent chorale “Wachet Auf†and then moving to such holiday favorites as “Hark the Herald Angels Sing†and “Silent Night.†The concert will feature the brass ensemble separately and together and is an excellent way to spend the first Sunday of Advent.

New Law Cracks Down on DWI Offenders
New York recently took another important step toward tougher penalties for DWI offenders. Leandra’s Law was signed by the Governor last week. Leandra’s Law makes driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol with a child a felony. The law also makes New York one of a dozen states to require all convicted drunken drivers use an ignition interlock device, which prevents them from driving their car if they are drunk.

The Fastrak Racing Series will sanction the new Crate Late Model Class at both Brewerton Speedway and Fulton Speedway for the 2010 race season in an announcement made at the recent National Parts Peddler Auction and Trade Show at the New York State Fairgrounds.
