The students were recognized by Principal Jean Sampsell during a Morning Express program where their peers, teachers and special guests cheered and applauded their accomplishments.
An interest-based research project at Hannibal’s Dennis M. Kenney Middle School evolved into a life-changing experience for eighth grader Avery Michaud.
The $2,000 Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing a post-secondary program for engineering or related CNC machine technology.

Throughout the year, fourth grade classes at Hastings-Mallory Elementary have learned about government through social studies lessons and in collaboration with the school’s library media specialist. Students were responsible for understanding the levels of government and the various roles of each within the three levels.
As part of the school’s STEAM initiative, students were not only introduced to the scientific method, but they were then challenged to create their own science experiments.
A.A. Cole Elementary School’s PTO offered a fantastic evening full of reading, math and fun at Family Fun Night. The school was brimming from end to end with engaging activities, encouraging literacy and mathematics through movement.
Local author Rachel Guido deVries encouraged G. Ray Bodley High School students to use their life experiences to help perfect their writing craft.
Some Mexico Middle School students are getting a jumpstart on potential future career opportunities one hands-on learning experience at a time. Eighth graders enrolled in the Exploratory Occupations class are nearing the completion of their eighth and final unit of the 2017-18 school year.
