Fulton City School District students are ready to show their parents, guardians and other positive role models just how involved they are in their own education. That will be accomplished through the district’s inaugural spring student-led conferences for students in grades kindergarten through 10.
In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ recent birthday and Read Across America Week, librarian Jessica Somers has offered the reading challenge to encourage extra reading time, promote literacy and show Lanigan Eagles that reading is a fun activity.
New Haven Science Night was an overwhelming success according to students and family members in attendance. The hands-on activities and experiments presented a fun take on science experiments and ended in some pretty amazing projects to take home and enjoy.
In its second year, the dental program at Fairgrieve Elementary has offered a variety of in-school dental hygiene services for students, without having to be excused from the building.
Ten teams studied 10 books at Michael A. Maroun Elementary in hopes of being names the school’s Battle of the Books champion. Ultimately, “The Lighting Lazers” members coached by Rebecca Coffin, were victorious after they answered 14 of the 16 questions correctly and earned 112 points.
At last count, the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser has raised more than $7,690 with additional donations still coming in.
It took four tie-breaker questions to ultimately determine team Rainbow Readers as the Fulton City School District fifth and sixth grade Battle of the Books champion. The Volney Elementary students edged out Fairgrieve Elementary’s “Wonder Girls” team in the friendly competition.
The Central Square Robotics Club’s VEX team, the Robo Eagles, had a huge day at the recent New York State Championships, taking home several top awards and qualifying for the VEX World Championships in Lousiville, Kentucky.
Mexico High School students showcased their incredible talent during the school’s recent “Footloose” musical.
