Three Oswego High School students earned top marks at the recent SkillsUSA regional competition administered through the Center for Technology, Innovation and Instruction and its Career and Technical Education program.
When officials signaled the end of the Tug o’ War, the culminating event in the 2018 John C. Birdlebough High School Battle of the Classes, it was easy to tell who had claimed the title.
Mexico High School’s Friends of Rachel Club members have put forth weekly challenges for their peers to spread kindness and brighten someone’s day. The challenge for the week of March 26 to March 30 of “I will be there for someone who needs a shoulder to lean on or a helping hand” came on the heels of multiple threats of violence against the Mexico Academy and Central School District, and some more specifically at the high school.
Following a visit from dental hygienists Wendy Probst and Cammie Lyndaker, students in grades pre-kindergarten through four were able to share the following steps to a great smile: brush twice a day for two minutes, use fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash, floss, don’t snack too often and visit the dentist every six months.
The drive to purchase the segmented mats, one-tenth the weight of traditional rubber mats, was years in the making, with students, parents and community members working to raise the substantial funds needed for such an investment.
