The Robinson-Faust Theatre for the Performing Arts at Oswego High School was transformed into the dingy streets and seedy back alleys of Victorian London this weekend as crowds packed for the OHS Music Department’s groundbreaking performance of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
Students in the Career and Technical Education Nursing Assistant and New Vision Allied Health programs got a first-hand look this month at the organization and protocols involved with a large-scale public health event as part of the CiTi – American Red Cross blood drive.
Gold and Silver Star recognitions for the second academic quarter were recently announced for students of Emerson J. Dillon Middle school. Students are awarded a Gold Star for achieving a quarterly report card average of 90 or higher. A Silver Star is awarded for a quarterly report card average of 85 to 89.99.
Five Youth Advisory Council students from the Phoenix Central School District visited Albany on February 5 and 6 to represent Oswego County and meet with New York State senators and assemblymen at a Youth Leadership Forum sponsored by the Association of New York State Youth Bureaus.
Eight students now have their artwork displayed through March 2 at the Whitney Applied Technology Center at Onondaga Community College, Syracuse, to show Central New York residents how hard they worked on their pieces.
Students donated dozens of hand-crafted, pint-sized blankets to the Maternity Center for distribution to families in the first few hours after a newborn’s arrival.
The Oswego High School Music Department’s upcoming production of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” opening this week, ranks among the most ambitious undertakings in the history of Buccaneer theatre. With a mammoth set depicting three stories of vignettes within the macabre atmosphere of Victorian London and a cast exceeding 60 members, “Sweeney Todd” will take the stage on Feb. 9 and 10.
After a successful first semester at Cayuga Community College, Hannibal High School alumna Alexis Lathrop received a financial boost thanks to the Hannibal Alumni Association.
Positive, encouraging, hopeful and supportive messages were written on those notes for students in grades nine through 12 – and building staff members – to read, remember and return the random act of kindness to others.
