Healthy Highways was introduced into Riley and Minetto Elementary School with the goal of shepherding children towards healthy choices with food and physical activity and teaching the benefits of those choices to students for the rest of their lives.
The Oswego Middle School’s Backpack Program, which sends packages of donated food home with students each weekend, reaches a crescendo each year during the holiday season and school officials are thanking supporters for their generosity.

Several Granby Elementary students were recently inducted into the school’s Learning League for exemplifying empathy throughout the month of December. Because the students had shown recognition of others’ feelings, thoughts and attitudes, they were presented with certificates in front of their peers, teachers and guests.
The honorees each received a Role Model certificate during a recent assembly, where Principal Jeff Hendrickson shook their hands and commended their efforts of taking in the feelings, thoughts and attitudes of classmates and teachers.
Students at G. Ray Bodley High School who achieved honor roll and high honor roll status were recently recognized for their first quarter achievements. High honor roll status was awarded to students who achieved a cumulative grade point average of 89.5 or higher, while honor roll status was awarded to students with a cumulative grade point average between 84.5 and 89.4.
Iris McDonnell correctly spelled the word “ameliorate,” a verb defined as “to make something bad or unsatisfactory better” to win first place at the OMS Spelling Bee and punch her ticket to the final.
Granby Elementary Principal Heather Witter is serving up slices of fun during a school-wide classroom attendance competition. In an effort to increase attendance rates across all grade levels, Witter said students have been tasked with encouraging one another to be present and on time every day of the 2017-18 school year.
FULTON – Increased communication between Fulton City School District students, families and staff members is a top priority to ensure increased student achievement. That focus is one of the six tenets FCSD has begun to utilize to improve its schools and relationships.
Riley Elementary fourth graders hopped aboard “The Polar Express,” stopping at various holiday activity stations in the school cafeteria. The activity brought students from classrooms of Morganne Atutis, Nestor Aviles and Ashli Deming together to pair the reinforcement of academic lessons learned in English language arts with fun, holiday creations.
