Several Volney Elementary School students were recognized by their classroom teachers because the youngsters displayed perseverance throughout the month of March. Those students were honored by Principal Todd Terpening during a recent school assembly where they each received a Principal’s Award for their efforts.
The Oswego High School Drama Club will premiere a new play, “On The Terrace of the Doolittle Hotel” written and directed by Mark Cole, on May 5 and 6 at 7:30 each evening at the Robinson–Faust Theatre of the Performing Arts. The play takes place in Oswego, in September 1901 and features the character of Dr. Mary E. Walker.
Children who turn five years old by Dec. 1 are invited to be enrolled in the program between the hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. that day. Following April 27, kindergarten registration will be available through the Central Registrar.
On April 23 at 2 p.m., the Town of Volney History Center will host a presentation and slideshow by Jim Farfaglia. Farfaglia will read excerpts from the many memoirs that were written by veterans, their spouses and/or their children.
The walk begins in the parking lot of Holy Trinity Parish on the Rochester Street side at 10:15 a.m. and progresses over to Oneida Street and downtown pausing for brief scripture reference and prayer at different locations along the way.
A crowd of about 50 children and adults, including several Fulton City School District employees and FJHS Interim Principal Olivia Cambs, flocked to the event to sample pretzels and dipping sauces, jambalaya, loaded fries and a cheesecake/waffles dessert.
The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School Athletic Department held a letter of intent signing ceremony for Jordan Mull who has committed to play Division II football for the American International College Yellow Jackets in Springfield, Massachusetts, next year.

Catholic Charities has grown to become much more than an adoption agency. The organization now offers a variety of services that cover many of the basic needs of life. It offers a wide range of programs including, care management, immediate medical needs such as adult medical health and emergency services, while not forsaking the basic low-income needs such as offering a food pantry and thrift store.
Student musicians in the Hannibal Central School District wrapped up Music in Our Schools Month with district-wide concerts featuring both band and chorus members.
