Aerial spraying of a portion of the target area in central Oswego County was completed on Monday, September 9. The entire target area encompasses approximately 15,000 acres in portions of the towns of Mexico, New Haven, Palermo, Scriba and Volney. Weather permitting, the remainder will be finished tonight, Tuesday, September 10.
A benefit will be held for John Lewis, 4, who has stage four Neuroblastoma, which is a rare form of cancer. The event will be held from noon until 5 p.m. on Sept. 15 at the Fulton Polish Home on West First Street. John is the son of Bill and Sonya Lewis and has four siblings at home.

The city of Oswego has been required to separate the “Combined Sewer System” in certain portions of the west side of the city, as mandated in a Consent Decree with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency and New York Department of Environmental Conservation. Today (Sept. 5), between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., while this work was ongoing, the city’s water system lost pressure due to the construction work associated with the Consent Decree.
