Oswego County Proclaims Runaway Prevention Month

Oswego County recently presented a proclamation designating the month of November as Runaway Prevention Month. At hand were representatives from several local youth services agencies. Pictured from left are Heather Sturges, outreach specialist, Oswego County Opportunities, Inc.; Amy Leotta, youth director, Fulton YMCA; Oswego County Legislature Chairman Barry D. Leemann, District 4; Toni Ross, health educator, Oswego County Opportunities, Inc.; Carryn Carpser, runaway and homeless youth specialist at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, Oswego County Opportunities, Inc.; Kathy Fenlon, executive director of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and County Parks and Recreation; and Daniel Sokal, social worker, Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. Each year, more than 300 youth run away or are homeless in Oswego County. Area citizens can help these young people by guiding them toward available resources and empowering them to make safe, healthy and productive choices. Oswego County Hosts Visitor FAM Tours

The Oswego County Tourism Office recently welcomed neighboring tourism partners for a county-wide familiarization (FAM) tour.  The group stopped at the Salmon River Falls Unique Area in Orwell. Pictured from left are Rachael Atkins-Walpole, Ithaca/Tompkins County Convention & Visitors Bureau; Suzi Munoz, Ithaca/Tompkins County Convention & Visitors Bureau; Candy Searing, Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce; Cassie Breen, Oswego County Tourism; Barb Murdoch, Cayuga County Tourism; and Stacy Furgal, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. “These are great opportunities for us to further develop and maintain relationships with industry professionals as we continue in our efforts to promote Oswego County as a tourism destination,” said David Turner, director of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.
